Causes
Traction or compressive forces
- Direct blow or hard hit to the top of your shoulder
- Downward force hits the collarbone directly
- Wrestling, gymnastics, snow skiing, and martial arts
- Direct Trauma
- Direct Injury
- Road -traffic accident
Symptoms
Pain
- Tingling sensation -arm,forearm and hand
- Clumsy hand
- Burning sensation
- Restricted movement
- Weakness in rm, forearm and hand
- Numbness
- Loss of Sensation
- Loss of movement (Paralysis)
Treatment
Nonsurgical Treatment
- Soft cervical collar
- Physiotherapy - Gentle exercises and ROM exercises , Modalities
- Rest
Surgery
Surgery is not a treatment option for burners or stingers/ Brachial plexus. Management remains conservative (nonsurgical). Patients are followed through the athletic season until recovery is complete.
